Just a few days ago, Samsung officially announced that the Galaxy Note 7 would see the light of day on August 2, and images of the smartphone continue to leak regularly. The latest shows the highly anticipated iris scanner technology that will be featured on the company's upcoming flagship.

The Galaxy Note 7 has been said to come with an iris scanner, which is actually one of its main selling points. The latest leaked images have been spotted on Weibo, via SamMobile, and show off the phone's iris scanner technology. What these pictures do is provides users with instructions on how they can unlock their handsets with the help of the iris scanner.

The device needs to be placed at an arm's length, which means 25-35 cm away from the user's face, with the screen oriented towards them - which is only natural, considering that the scanner is placed on the front panel. In addition, the user needs to position their eyes so that they point directly towards the two circles displayed on the screen. After this, the scanner starts the iris recognition process and then unlocks the phone.

Iris scanner technology was also featured on the Galaxy Tab Iris

Galaxy Note 7 won't be the first Samsung device to come with an iris scanner. Earlier this year, Samsung released the Galaxy Tab Iris in India, a tablet with iris scanner technology designed for the business and governmental sector. It was conceived to help officials authenticate in various banking services and keep personal information secure.

Iris scanner technology certainly makes the Note 7 an attractive product on the market, but the device is also set to come with some other powerful specs. First of all, the display will have 5.7 inches and feature Super AMOLED technology and QHD resolution. Rear camera capacity will be 12MP, with a 5MP unit to be packed on the front.

The Note 7 will run the latest Snapdragon or Exynos processor and draw power from a 3,600mAh battery. 6GB of RAM is expected, together with IP68 certification. Samsung will unveil the smartphone during the Unpacked 2016 event on August 2.
