Such a device would certainly appeal to lots of buyers

Apple no longer plans to launch a second-generation iPhone SE, and that’s quite a shame, as the classic design a la iPhone 4 was quite brilliant.

And while the Cupertino tech giant is exploring other options in terms of iPhone design, concepts propose more or less interesting ideas that could actually make sense for at least part of the Apple userbase.

One of them is this new iPhone XE concept that is a mix of old and new, as it envisions a cocktail of modern features, all packed in an appearance that clearly reminds of the iPhone SE.

Concept design Antonio De Rosa says the design is actually based on the iPad Pro, and thanks to this approach, it allowed for the notch to be reduced by as much as 45 percent. Because yes, there’s a notch on this proposed model, as the iPhone XE would also come with Face ID facial recognition.

New iPhones coming in September

The wish list includes a 6.6-inch OLED display with a 93.6 percent screen-to-body ratio, which means that the bezels would be so tiny it would be nearly impossible to see them. Without a doubt, this is a milestone that Apple would reach at some point in the future anyway, only that it could take up to several years before it happens.

As for the chances to see an iPhone XE ever being products, I believe they are fairly low, despite the fact that at some level, it actually makes a lot of sense.

This design that reminds of the iPhone 4 still makes sense on a modern smartphone, and I think that Apple gave up on it too fast.

For what it’s worth, Apple is projected to unveil its new iPhones in September, but just don’t hold your breath for anything like this to be part of the lineup.
