The device is projected to be announced today

Apple is projected to take the wraps off the new-generation iPhone SE later today, and while the company has remained tight-lipped on everything related to the device, a lot of information reaches the web through unofficial channels.

This time, MacRumors is reporting on a leak via Korean blog Naver and which indicates the iPhone SE 2022 could come with Ceramic Shield on the front cover glass.

This means the iPhone SE could therefore sport increased durability just like the more expensive iPhones currently in Apple’s lineup. This approach was first used on the iPhone 12 specifically to make the smartphones more durable.

MagSafe and other upgrades

The same report indicates the iPhone SE could be equipped with the A15 Bionic chip paired with 4GB of RAM, and this is obviously a welcome upgrade from 3GB on the current model

Without a doubt, the smartphone would be fitted with a 5G modem, so the iPhone SE would therefore come in line with the rest of the iPhones in Apple’s lineup.

The battery life will also be improved, though, at this point, it’s not clear just how substantial this upgrade is going to be. Most likely, Apple will rely on software optimizations and the power efficiency of the new Bionic chip, as the body of the iPhone SE 2022 will be the same as on the current model.

In other words, Apple wouldn’t have a greater amount of space inside to install a larger battery as compared to the current generation of the iPhone SE.

Apple will take the wraps off the new model later today, with the company likely to begin taking pre-orders on Friday. If the typical schedule is used, then the iPhone SE should start shipping beginning next week. Pricing could start at $399, but this is just speculation on our side.
