Report claims the iPhone SE 2 could be made in India

Apple is believed to be working on a second-generation iPhone SE, but up to this point, all rumors that reached the web have been contradictory, to say the least.

Now new information coming from tekz24, who doesn’t have a long track on Apple scoops, indicates that the iPhone SE 2 is very unlikely to be launched at the company’s March 27 event. Instead, the focus will be put on MacBooks and iPads, as more affordable versions of these two products are expected to be unveiled.

What’s more interesting is the tidbit claiming that the device will be manufactured entirely in India, after Apple started building devices locally to comply with government requirements and be part of the Made in India program.

4.2-inch screen maybe?

But while at first glance such a plan could make sense, building all iPhone SE 2 units in India is very unlikely given that the local production capacity can’t meet Apple’s global demand. At the same time, larger partners like Foxconn can obviously accommodate part of the production, ensuring worldwide shipping in a timely manner.

The same report claims the iPhone SE 2 could be upgraded from the 4.0-inch screen of the first generation to 4.2 inches, with power to come from the A10 chip. There will be only 2GB of RAM, if the information published by the cited source is correct, and the device will be available with 32GB or 128GB storage.

While analysts claimed the iPhone SE 2, if it ever launches, could lack more advanced features like a glass body allowing for wireless charging, the report says this isn’t the case, as Apple still wants to offer such functionality on its next smaller iPhone.

It goes without saying that all these details should be treated with a healthy dose of skepticism, especially given all the contradictory information on the iPhone SE 2 that has made the rounds lately.
