Leak confirms the iPhone 8 will feature wireless charging

There’ve been lots of leaks revealing the iPhone 8 so far, and most of them pointed in the same direction, with Apple to finally embrace features like wireless and fast charging, both of which have been around for a long time in the Android ecosystem.

Evidence in this regard, however, has been rather sketchy, but photos that got leaked today via Chinese site Weibo attempt to set things straight, indicating that the iPhone 8 will indeed come with wireless charging, but also with a series of other upgrades.

First of all, the alleged X-rays come from what is believed to be a Foxconn factory, and the pictured iPhone 8 was in the engineering validation test (also known as EVT), which consists of a series of tests ran before the manufacturer starts trial production.

This means the photo is either old or Apple is starting production of the iPhone 8 late, with the latter scenario aligning with rumors of a possible delay impacting the iPhone 8.

3 big features revealed

The leak reveals 3 important details about the iPhone 8. First of all, it comes with an L-shaped battery. A feature that was originally supposed to land on the iPhone 9, the L-shaped battery is a new design that Apple turns to in order to increase battery capacity, but at the same time optimize the space under the hood for more components to fit in.

Then, there’s the vertically-positioned dual-camera system which is likely to feature some other improvements as well, including better optical zoom. And last but not least, it’s the wireless charging module confirming that this feature will indeed make it to the iPhone with the September model.

It goes without saying that there’s no confirmation the photos are real, and this is why we should take everything with a pinch of salt for now. The iPhone 8 should be presented in September, though if the latest reports are real, sales are more likely to begin in October or November due to supply issues.
