We’re only a few days away from the moment Apple will show the world its 10th anniversary iPhone, and it looks like not everything is just milk and honey for the company.

Despite the major improvements that Apple is preparing for the iPhone 8, a big part of its userbase isn’t quite excited with what the new model is going to bring. Or at least, that’s what a survey conducted by Piper Jaffray indicates, with only 16 percent of existing iPhone users planning to get an iPhone 8.

And if we’re looking at last year’s figures, that’s not really that bad, as before the iPhone 7 launched, only 15 percent of the respondents to a similar survey said they planned to upgrade.

On the other hand, 24 percent of the respondents this year said they might buy an iPhone 8, as compared to 29 percent who offered the same answer in 2016.

iPhone 8, the super-expensive smartphone

While the number of new features coming to the iPhone 8 is without a doubt very compelling for customers who have already purchased an iPhone, not the same thing can be said about the price tags that are being speculated these days.

Rumor has it that the iPhone 8 could cost as much as $1,200 with 512GB storage, while UBS analysts believe the new model won’t break the $1,000 threshold because Apple wants to stay close to the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 in terms of pricing.

And while Apple will also take the wraps off the more subtly-revised iPhone 7s and 7s Plus, the iPhone 8 is expected to be the star of the show, with analysts predicting record sales after launch. It remains to be seen how many iPhone users upgrade their devices to the new model, but the price tag will obviously be a critical part of the decision.
