14 DAY TRIAL // Apple will finally unveil the new iPhone 7 lineup on Wednesday, and we already know pretty much everything about the new model - although it’s worth noting that nothing is official. Now a new leak comes to confirm that the device will be offered in two black versions.
We’ve known for a while that Apple wanted to offer the iPhone 7 in a new color, and at some point, it was believed that Deep Blue version would be included too. However, it turns out that the company has changed its mind, and it’s sticking with colors that make a bit more sense when looking at the rest of its device portfolio, such as Macs and Apple Watch.
And according to a recent leak posted online by @the_malignant and showing stickers that were reportedly used on iPhone 7 prototypes, the upcoming model will be offered in two different black versions, matte and glossy.
Exclusive top-of-the-range iPhone color
This leak aligns with information that reached the web during the week and that indicated Apple was planning a total of five colors for the iPhone 7, including what are being called Dark Black and Piano Black. The first is expected to be matte while the rather would be glossy, sources say.
The stickers you see here are labeled “D10,” which is believed to be the prototype number of the iPhone 7 with a 4.7-inch screen. The Plus version and a potential Pro model were called D11 and D12, respectively, so this could be confirmation that both black versions will be offered on the standard iPhone as well.
There’s also some speculation that at least one of the two black versions, possibly the glossy one, would be exclusively offered with the top-of-the-range iPhones, which in this case could be the Plus model with 256 GB of storage space.
Such a thing would make sense, given that Apple is betting big on the iPhone Plus this time and is giving it more exclusive features, such as the dual-camera system, but take it with a pinch of salt until Wednesday, when Apple officially unveils the new model.
