Samples show why iPhone 7 Plus is worth the money… or not

The iPhone 7 Plus launched with a completely new dual-camera system that incorporates a 12-megapixel telephoto lens which Apple says is capable of stunning performance.

But since shipments are only scheduled to begin on Friday, it’s still hard to tell whether the dual-camera system is indeed as good as Apple claims it to be in real life, so for the moment, we just have to trust what Cupertino is saying.

A photo gallery posted by Sports Illustrated, however, is supposed to help demonstrate the capabilities of the new dual-camera unit available on the iPhone 7 Plus, as photographer David E. Klutho used the phone to shoot photos at the Titans - Vikings game.

The resulting photos pretty much speak for themselves, and we’ll let you be the judge this time - you can check out the full photo gallery at the end of the article and make sure you zoom in to see the original quality.

Oversaturation anyone?

If you’re asking us, some photos do seem to be a little bit oversaturated, and colors are just too vivid, making the images look unnatural. On the other hand, while we might be subjective, it’s important to see some low-light shots as well because, in the end, this is where the difference is even more significant for an important share of buyers.

The Samsung Galaxy S7 and the Note 7 are already shooting high-quality photos in low-light conditions thanks to the Dual Pixel technology, so it remains to be seen if the Apple iPhone 7 can match their performance in this regard.

For the moment, however, these are some good samples to determine the performance of iPhone 7’s dual-camera system in perfect light conditions and the source claims no edits have been made. The iPhone 7 will start shipping on Friday, so more real-life quality shots should be available over the weekend.
