New iPhone 7 smashed to the ground for testing purposes

Although the majority of people are using their iPhones with protective cases, Apple is spending a substantial amount of time researching new ways to make devices more durable to resist the most common crashes, hits, or scratches.

And this can easily be seen on the very latest models, with the iPhone 6s featuring an improved type of aluminum that allows it to pass the majority of drop tests with flying colors.

Now that the iPhone 7 is out, everyone believes that Apple has improved things even more, so the new model is supposed to come with better durability and extra strength. That’s what the guys over at EverythingApplePro on YouTube tried to determine when putting the iPhone 7 to a drop test against the iPhone 6s.

Stronger than the iPhone 6s

Apple hasn’t said a single thing about the durability of the iPhone 7 during its September launch event, but naturally, the company almost certainly improved it as part of its efforts to make the device water resistant.

The iPhone 7 is the first iPhone in the history of the model that’s rated IP67, so it can easily resist in water for a maximum of 30 minutes, and as part of this improvement, Apple also used more glue and other sealing materials to keep all parts in place.

And as you can see in the drop test below, this seems to be paying off, as the screen remains in place even after the phone is smashed to the ground several times, whereas the display pops out a little bit on the iPhone 6s following the same tests.

In the meantime, keep in mind that you aren’t supposed to perform this kind of tests on your own iPhones by any means, as you might not experience the same results and you could easily destroy the device. And yet, it’s still good to know that the iPhone becomes more durable with every generation, as accidents can happen any minute now and there are moments when not even a case can help.
