Analyst says Apple massive major upgrades on the Pro models

We’ve known for a while that the iPhone 15 series would introduce several major upgrades, but now it looks like the company is actually working on many other improvements.

One of them is a change that has previously leaked from other sources as well and which concerns the amount of memory that will be offered on the Pro models.

Analyst Jeff Pu says in an investor note obtained by MacRumors that both the iPhone 15 Pro and the iPhone 15 Pro Max would be equipped with 8GB of RAM. This would obviously be a notable upgrade from 6GB on the current models.

On the other hand, the rest of the lineup, which will include the iPhone 15 and the iPhone 15 Plus, will continue to be fitted with 6GB of RAM.

In terms of upgrades under the hood, another important change on the iPhone 15 is the switch to the A17 Bionic chip that will be produced based on the 3nm process that TSMC has recently announced. However, the new chip will only be offered on the Pro models, whereas the standard and the Plus will come with the A16 Bionic.

At the same time, the Pro models will get a series of other exclusive features as well, including a titanium frame and solid-state volume and power buttons with haptic feedback. Again, this is something we’ve heard before, so Pu reiterating the same upgrade is solid evidence that Apple is indeed planning a change on this front.

And last but not least, all new iPhones will come with USB-C, something that Apple just had to make happen until 2024. New regulations in the European Union call for all smartphone makers to equip their models with USB-C charging until 2024, but Apple wants to introduce the change a year earlier, so the Lightning port would be dropped on the iPhone 15.
