Only the Pro models could come with it though

While all eyes are on the iPhone 14 lineup projected to launch in September, reports on the next-next iPhone are already swirling around the web, hinting at some pretty massive upgrades in tow for Apple’s flagship product.

This time, the excitement for the iPhone 15 is fueled thanks to an analyst note courtesy of Jeff Pu of Haitong International Securities. In a research paper obtained by 9to5Mac, Pu explains the iPhone 15 is very likely to introduce a periscope camera.

This isn’t the first time we hear that such a big upgrade is on its way to the way, as super-reliable Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo also predicted a periscope camera on the iPhone launching in 2023.

Pu therefore corroborates this information, adding that the camera would support up to 5x optical zoom. The periscope camera will be exclusive to the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max.

Exclusive to Pro models

This isn’t necessarily surprising, as Apple is already working on making a bigger difference between the standard iPhones and the Pro-branded models.

The strategy would gain more pace this year when Apple will give up on the iPhone mini and introduce a larger 6.7-inch iPhone 14 Max (non-Pro). The lineup will therefore comprise two standard iPhones and two Pros, and the most notable difference between the two will be the availability of the notch.

Both the iPhone 14 Pro and the iPhone 14 Pro Max are expected to give up on the notch in the favor of a punch-hole camera, with all front-facing parts, including the selfie camera and the Face ID components, to be embedded into the glass.

On the other hand, the iPhone 14 and the iPhone 14 Max will continue to sport a notch, and there’s a chance the very same strategy will continue to be used next year with the introduction of the iPhone 15.
