Apple’s iPhone 14 is just around the corner, and once again, the Cupertino-based tech giant is planning to upgrade the Pro in order to make the device more appealing for most customers.

In addition to RAM upgrades (the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max would still feature 6GB of RAM, but on the other hand, Apple will use LPDDR5), it’s now believed that the base version could also come with 256GB of storage.

In other words, Apple is upgrading the base iPhone with more storage, with TrendForce explaining that despite these changes, the Pro models may not actually cost more.

“The iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max are among four new models to be upgraded to the A16 (TSMC 4nm) processor. Upgrades such as initial starting memory capacity increasing to LPDDR5 6GB and 256GB, primary camera moving up to 48 million, Face ID Design changes, etc., are expected to raise starting prices. However, under pressure from rising global inflation and foreign exchange rates, Apple is expected to adopt a more cautious pricing strategy so as not to affect its sales performance,” TrendForce says.

Small price increase expected

According to the same company, the iPhone 14 could be priced somewhere between $749 and $799, so the base model could still be a little bit more expensive than the current generation – the iPhone 13 mini, which will be discontinued this year, starts at $699. On the other hand, the iPhone 13 starts at $799, so there’s a chance that no price increase takes place this year.

All-new this year will be the iPhone 14 Max, which is expected to be priced between $849 and $899.

The iPhone 14 Pro Max could witness a price increase of at least $50, as TrendForce expects the new model to start at either $1,149 or $1,199, as compared to $1,099 in the case of the current generation.
