If you still needed more proof that Apple’s new iPhone 12 is selling like hotcakes, here’s a report from Counterpoint Research revealing that the new generation accounts for six out of the top 10 best-selling devices in January 2021.

iPhone 12 was the top model in the world, accounting for 6 percent of all sales, followed by iPhone 12 Pro Max with 5 percent. iPhone 12 Pro comes third with 4 percent, while iPhone 11 is fourth with 2 percent.

Overall, six of the top 10 smartphones are iPhones, and this shows just how good Apple’s smartphones are selling, even if they’re not necessarily part of the latest generation. For example, number 10 in the chart is the iPhone SE, a 4.7-inch device that was announced in 2020.

“Close to one-third of Apple’s sales for the iPhone 12 series came from the US. This was due to strong carrier promotions and 5G demand. The iPhone 12 Pro Max was the top-selling model in the US, as consumers preferred the high-end version. Old models iPhone SE 2020 and iPhone 11 also continued to do well,” Counterpoint explains.

“Samsung’s Galaxy A21s managed to maintain its position in the top 10 list. The Galaxy A31, the other Samsung model in the top 10, entered the list for the first time. Samsung is aggressively promoting the Galaxy A series. It comes with a premium design, fresh colors and latest specs at affordable prices. Through the A series, Samsung is also looking to attract the users of HONOR devices, present in sizeable numbers in Europe, Latin America, South East Asia and MEA.”

Apple is projected to unveil new iPhones in the fall of the year, and this time, the company will introduce four models, all upgrades to the current generation.

A new iPhone SE is also expected in the spring of the next year, possibly with a similar design and a 4.7-inch display.
