The announcement will still take place in September

Apple’s new-generation iPhone expected in the fall of this year could go on sale in October or November, according to new information that surfaced this past weekend.

More specifically, Apple still plans to announce the iPhone 12 during a September event, but sales would only kick off a month or two months later.

This is because of inventory struggles, as the currently health crisis affected suppliers, which in turn slowed down the production of new iPhones, so most partners would need more time to reach Apple’s estimated demand.

Goldman Sachs analysts believe the iPhone shipments in the third quarter would drop by no less than 36 percent, forecasting that the new models could go live in early November, mostly because the existing restrictions worldwide impact the manufacturing process.

Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman also says that the new iPhone 12 would launch in October 2020 with 5G capabilities, according to the existing schedule.

Plans could always change overnight

It goes without saying that all these plans could change overnight depending on how Apple’s production plans for the new iPhones advance.

The 2020 iPhone generation is the first one to come with 5G support, so for Apple, it’s critical to choose the right timing to launch the new models. At least one iPhone will feature 5G, while other people familiar with Apple’s plans claim the tech company wants all models to boast such capabilities.

So right now, the new iPhone calendar doesn’t seem too complex, as it could be more or less similar to the one used for the iPhone X. In other words, the new iPhones could be announced in September, as per Apple’s typical release cycle, while sales would only kick off in October or November at a time that Apple finds more appropriate for the debut of such an important device in the long term.
