Apple has officially unveiled a new-generation iPad, therefore refreshing its most affordable tablet in a way that the company believes would make it even more successful.

The 10th generation iPad is powered by the A14 Bionic chip and comes with 5G connectivity. It features USB-C charging, as well as Touch ID in the top button.

Worth knowing is that the device will be offered in four new colors, namely blue, pink, yellow, and silver, and it can be ordered with either 64GB or 256GB of storage.

At the same time, the new iPad is also more expensive than its predecessor, as it starts at $449. Previously, the iPad could be ordered from $329, so we should probably blame the inflation for the massive price hike.

Apple says the A14 Bionic chip will provide a massive boost in terms of performance.

“The powerful A14 Bionic chip comes to iPad, delivering a 20 percent increase in CPU and 10 percent improvement in graphics over the previous generation. This makes the new iPad up to 5x faster than the best-selling Android tablet, and for users looking to upgrade from a device like iPad (7th generation), they will see up to 3x improvement in overall performance with the new iPad,” the company says.

“Advanced machine learning functions are powered by a 16-core Neural Engine in A14 Bionic — offering double the number of cores of A13 — boosting machine learning capabilities by up to 80 percent. For everyday tasks like working on a school project, editing a high-resolution video, or playing a graphics-intensive game, A14 Bionic brings remarkable performance and efficiency.”

The new iPad can already be pre-ordered today, with the shipments projected to kick off on October 26 in the United States and 28 other countries and regions. The cellular model starts at $599.
