Apple’s main focus is the AR/VR headset now

You’d think that a company worth 2 trillion dollars would be able to work on several major products at the same time, but in the case of Apple, it looks like directing most resources to a single product is the preferred way to do business.

As a result, 2023 is going to witness the debut of Apple’s AR/VR headset, and while this is obviously an important milestone for the company and its customers, it also represents a change of strategy when it comes to the development of other products.

The upcoming software updates expected in 2023 for the iPhone, iPad, and Mac will come with fewer new features than originally planned, pretty much because Apple is all about AR and VR these days.

Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman says the iOS 17, iPadOS 17, and macOS 14, all due in the fall of 2023, will therefore be less exciting, with Apple currently working around the clock on getting xrOS, the operating system that will power the upcoming headset, ready for the market.

The debut of the headset is also projected to happen in the fall of this year.

Without a doubt, this is disappointing news for iPhone and iPad users out there, especially considering the improvements that iOS 16 introduced to the world.

The new operating system was the biggest release in a very long time, coming with new features such as support for an Always-On Display on the iPhone 14 Pro, lock screen widgets, Apple Maps improvements, and so on. It’ll certainly be interesting to see what iOS 17 brings new to the table, but if the report is true and Apple doesn’t change its mind overnight, one of the most anticipated releases of the year could turn into a big flop for users out there.
