Apple has released another major update for iPhone and iPad, as iOS 16.2 has finally reached the stable channel after several weeks in beta.

Available today for the iPhone 8 and newer, iOS 16.2 come with lots of new features, including support for Apple Music Sing, a new karaoke experience that is live for Apple Music users.

In addition, the new version of the iPhone operating system enables encrypted iCloud backups, while also bringing improvements for the lock screen, such as a new sleep widget. The always-on display on the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max is also getting a revamp thanks to new options to disable the wallpaper and stick with a UI that more or less reminds of Android.

One of the highlights, however, is the addition of Freeform, an app that many users will probably compare with the classic Paint integrated into Windows.

Freeform, however, pushes everything to a completely new level, as its main focus is visual collaboration.

“Freeform helps users organize and visually lay out content on a flexible canvas, giving them the ability to see, share, and collaborate all in one place without worrying about layouts or page sizes. Users can add a wide range of files and preview them inline without ever leaving the board. Designed for collaboration, Freeform makes it easier than ever to invite others to work on a board together. Users can even collaborate with others while on a FaceTime call. Freeform boards are stored in iCloud, so users can stay in sync across devices,” Apple says.

Just like the main iOS 16 release, iOS 16.2 is now available for the iPhone 8 and newer, so if you’re using the iPhone 14, you should be good to go. The AOD improvements are only aimed at the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max.
