Report claims iOS 16.0.3 is already being tested in the wild

If you were hoping to get your hands on iOS 16.1 at some point this week, there’s a chance the wait might actually be longer.

This is because the next software update in Apple’s queue is likely iOS 16.0.3, as spotted recently by MacRumors. The Cupertino-based tech giant has recently started the testing of this update, and there’s a chance it could go live this or the next week.

At this point, it’s too early to tell how many improvements would be part of this release, but given the small version increase, it’s pretty clear the focus would be specifically on bug fixes.

And this isn’t necessarily a surprise.

There’s a lot Apple has to fix in iOS 16, especially on the new-generation iPhones, so this is probably the main reason the company is working around the clock on shipping further updates to its devices.

For example, the battery glitch continues to impact many devices out there, and while iOS 16.0.2 did come with some refinements on this front, there’s now hope that the upcoming update could finally resolve the drain once and for all.

This news, however, is rather disappointing for those who hoped to see iOS 16.1 going live as soon as possible. Given another update is currently prepared for prime-time, there’s a chance Apple would push back the release of iOS 16.1 in the first place – the company, however, has remained completely tight-lipped on when it could actually begin the rollout of this new build

However, iOS 16.1 should still go live by the end of October, but at this point, it’s not clear if another beta could go live in the coming weeks, as additional testing may be required for all the new features that are part of this new release.
