A useful addition to future mainstream Skylake CPUs

Despite Intel's decision of not bundling its latest Core i7-6700K and Core i5-6600K unlocked CPUs, Intel has not forgotten about building one for them after all.

Additionally, this isn't just another cooling solution from Intel dedicated to the LGA 1151, but this is rather Intel's best, and most powerful cooling solution ever made by the American company.

Akiba PC Hotline managed to spot the new cooling solution in a store in Tokyo, Japan, that started to sell the new TS15A (BXTS15A) cooling solution dedicated to the new Skylake CPU line based on the LGA 1151 socket. Apparently, the new cooler costs ¥5162 ($41.5, €37.4). This is not a very affordable price since other advanced custom-made cooling solutions are available for a comparable price.

Not much is known about the new cooler, except its design. It uses 4-pin pulse with variable fan speed control and has a three-year limited warranty.

Bigger and more powerful than any of Intel's previous coolers

A quick look at the photos shows us that the new TS15A is also the largest of any cooler ever produced by Intel for its desktop CPUs. The device is taller than the previous TS13A, and has a large copper base that comes with the company's known "heat-column" with a heat-pipe inside.

It seems that for the first time, there are high-density fin designs for the heatsink of its coolers to maximize heat dissipation area. Intel now draws inspiration from major thermal cooling solution manufacturers instead of its older solid-state heat sinks with bifurcated fins.

Although nobody was really bothered by Intel not providing cooling fans with its new Skylake CPUs, since they would get replaced eventually, the new cooling solution is a welcoming addition anyway, since non-overclockable CPUs from Intel for non-enthusiasts would probably sell better with cooling fans included in the package.

In our own Intel Core i7-6700K review , we used a Freezer 7 Pro Rev.2 150 Watts cooler that did an excellent job at keeping the new Skylake cool even at 4.7GHz overclocked frequencies.
