You don't even need Root access to use it

The first details regarding the upcoming launcher that will be available with Google Pixel 3 are beginning to surface, and a new version can be installed right now.

In each development cycle of Android, Google reworks the launcher and adds new features. Some of the more drastic changes occur from time to time, but from the looks of it, Google will keep the existing launcher pretty much the same, with a few exceptions.

The fact that people can take apart the latest Android release is not something new, and if you’re really curious you can get a taste of the Google Pixel 3 launcher right now. It’s easy to do and, best of all, it doesn’t require Root access to the device.

The Double Bubble

Google move the search dock from the top of the screen to the bottom, and pretty much everyone agreed that it was the right choice. Many people were using other various launchers just to get rid of that annoying search bubble, but it’s become a lot more useful in the past year.

As you can imagine, Google Pixel 3 is going to land with a new launcher as well, and since we already have the first development preview for Android P, it’s easy to understand why we can now test the latest improvements.

It's easy to see in the screenshot that the search bubble has been separated in two, which can prove useful if you just want to look for something and not activate the Assistant by mistake.

Developer paphonb, who is well known in the Android community for the work he’s been doing with official Pixel launchers, has released a modified version of the Google Pixel 2 launcher that has the split bubble (search dock). It’s an interesting look, and you can check it yourself.

You can download the APK file from Softpedia, and install it. If you don’t know what to do, just follow this handy tutorial. Enjoy!
