Dev states that the city's life won't stop when the protagonist leaves the stage

Sucker Punch wants to really take things to the next level with their inFamous: Second Son's open-world feeling, setting out to give the city real life.

They want to make it look like a real place with real people, not just make it a background for the hero's actions, but rather make the protagonist just one of the many elements comprising it.

“We don't want it to feel like when [our hero] Delsin leaves the block, everything goes away. So we actually have things going on. There are more systems running concurrently than ever before – the urban ecosystem, all these pedestrians interacting with each other in ways that fill out their attitudes about what's going on in the city.

“This is something new to Second Son that we've never tried in the previous two inFamous games,” stated developer Sucker Punch, adding that they have a special term for this, the “reality bubble.”

The game's setting will be the city of Seattle, which incidentally is where Sucker Punch is located, and the tone of the game will be more serious, but the developer is still intent on delivering a fun-filled experience.

They won't just model a building because it is there in reality, they will make everything go through the lens of game design to make it function as the perfect landscape for a superhero.

They already did this with the main character, now looking like a regular Joe, wearing a backpack and wielding a chain for melee combat, looking less like a cast member from a superhero show.

The emotional link between the protagonist and his brother will also be explored in detail and will be a strong storyline element.

inFamous: Second Son is currently scheduled to launch on March 21, 2014, on the PlayStation 4.
