Motorola announced three powerful smartphones in the Moto Z line this year, the Moto Z, Moto Z Force, and Moto Z Play. All three smartphones are compatible with MotoMods, modular accessories that have contributed to the popularity of this line.

Undoubtedly, Moto Z smartphones are some of the most appealing on the market, as they come with top-of-the-line specs and enhanced functionality with modular accessories. In addition, at the time of launch, Motorola praised the Moto Z as being the world’s slimmest premium smartphone.

Smartphones in the Moto Z line did catch the attention of the market, but many have wondered if Motorola would continue the Moto X line and launch a smartphone in this range this year.

Leakster Evan Blass has recently posted an image with the tagline “mystery moto,” and the picture is said to depict an upcoming Moto X smartphone with dual front-facing speakers, but it doesn’t really reveal anything more. The image is quite blurry, but if Motorola is really working on another phone in this range, then more information will surface soon.

The upcoming phone in the Moto X series appears to have dual-front speakers

In June, Motorola officials stated that the Moto Z line wasn’t intended to replace the Moto X series, which is “alive and well.” The Moto X line basically offers consumers good specs at an affordable price, which is why the company shouldn’t give up on this series.

One of the most appealing smartphones in the Moto X series was the Moto X Force, released in November last year. It came with shatterproof screen protection and 3GB of RAM, aside from other powerful specs.

However, consumers should expect the Moto X line not to receive as much marketing power as the flagship Moto Z series. A few weeks ago, information on two Moto smartphones carrying the model number XT1662 and XT1663 leaked online and they were thought to reference a new Moto X model. However, it seems that they were actually the Moto M which recently leaked online.
