Germany’s IFA Executive Director Jens Heithecker stated during a recent interview that he wished Samsung would announce the next Galaxy Note phablet during IFA Berlin trade show, set to start on September 1.

The executive stressed the fact that "a lot of media and journalists from all around the world" attend the event in Berlin and that "it is not possible to bring them all together in other cities wherever it is, in August."

He also believes that IFA is the better place to unveil the new Galaxy Note phablet, compared to a separate event organized by Samsung. Last year, the Galaxy Note 7 was announced during an event held by Samsung in New York in August. A year before that, the Galaxy Note 5 was unveiled during a similar event in the US, thus breaking Samsung’s tradition of announcing Galaxy Note phablets during the IFA trade show in Europe.

Rear dual-camera setup and Infinity Display on the Note 8

Such an announcement at IFA would certainly make the trade show even more appealing and convince more journalists and tech enthusiasts to attend. The Galaxy Note 8’s announcement holds a greater importance compared to previous unveilings in the series, considering that it will be the next Galaxy Note device to be launched after last year’s fiasco.

If Samsung chooses to set the unveil date in September, then the company will have more time to conduct quality assurance tests and perfect the phone's performance.

The Galaxy Note 8 is expected to come with the same Infinity Display spotted on the Galaxy S8, and a dual-camera setup on the back with higher performance compared to the iPhone 7 Plus. Moreover, it could have a 12MP wide-angle CIS coupled with a 13MP telephoto CIS, and a 3x optical zoom feature.

Samsung will most certainly hold a keynote at IFA, but it remains to be seen if the Korean company will pick the European event as the place for announcing the highly anticipated Galaxy Note 8.
