The post apocalyptic shooter goes under the scope

Post apocalyptic games are seemingly all the rage these days, as a lot of development studios have taken the world and threw a devastating disaster in it, and thus created the world in which their future games were based.

While this scenario isn't as saturated as the World War II one, there are companies that try to revamp it and throw other mechanics with the post apocalyptic setting. One such title is id Software's Rage, which will combine both first person shooter aspects, which the company is specialized in, as it is responsible for cult classics like Wolfenstein or Quake, and racing gameplay options, inspired from crash-racing titles like Burnout.

Although the game was announced two years ago, the company has been tight-lipped about it, limiting itself to revealing that it would be launched during the second quarter of 2010, thus escaping the holiday rush that will start at the end of this year.

But now, thanks to Game Informer, a lot of details about the hybrid title will be revealed, as the magazine boasts a ton of exclusive information and, most importantly, screenshots from the game. Also included in the August issue of the magazine will be an in-depth look at the EA Partners program from Electronic Arts, and some “scoops” on extremely anticipated titles like God of War II, Halo 3: ODST or Super Mario Galaxy 2.

Subscribers will be the first ones to read all the details about these new games and about id's Rage, but we can expect the new information to hit the Internet soon enough after the magazine will be shipped. Until then, we can still hope that id will do a great job with the game, and settle our thirst for first person shooters with the upcoming Wolfenstein game, which is developed by the same studio and will appear this August.
