Today, iberry has made official a new mobile phone running under Google’s Android operating system, in the form of Auxus Note 5.5.

This is the first piece of hardware from the Indian vendor to have been released with a fingerprint scanner, though it still features a rather affordable price tag, especially when considering the hardware specs it boasts.

Just as the phone’s name suggests, it arrives on shelves with a large, 5.5-inch touchscreen display. However, as fonearena notes, the iberry Auxus Note 5.5 was announced with a price tag of only Rs. 13,990 ($229/€172) attached to it.

Starting August 21, users in India interested in the purchase of this smartphone will be able to grab it via eBay, which will have exclusivity on it.

The aforementioned 5.5-inch IPS OGS touchscreen display on this handset is capable of delivering an HD (1280 x 720 pixels) resolution, the available specs list reveals.

Moreover, the mobile phone is powered by a 1.7GHz octa-core MediaTek MT6592 processor, which is also paired with a 700 MHz Mali 450-MP4 GPU and with 2GB of RAM, thus ensuring great performance capabilities.

The new iberry Auxus Note 5.5 was also announced with 16GB of internal memory, but users will be able to add up to 64GB of external storage space to it, courtesy of a microSD memory card slot.

On the back, the new handset features a 13-megapixel camera with LED flash, which should be able to record videos in full HD resolution.

Moreover, the smartphone was announced with an 8-megapixel front camera, which will offer a great experience when making video calls and when snapping selfies.

The specifications list of the new device also includes dual-SIM with dual standby capabilities, Harlequin LED Notification, and a 3200mAh battery that should be able to provide long usage times.

Moreover, the mobile phone packs support for 3G HSPA+ networks, as well as the usual Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth, and NFC connectivity capabilities. Moreover, it arrives on shelves with a built-in GPS receiver, and with the aforementioned Fingerprint Scanner.

The fingerprint sensor is placed below the camera and allows users to easily unlock the device. However, it also allows users to configure up to three fingerprints, while featuring a Finger App Lock feature that enables the creation of a security profile where specific apps are hidden.

iberry Auxus Note 5.5 runs under the Android 4.4 KitKat operating system right from the start, but it also sports various customizations coming from the handset vendor.
