Ian McShane is coming back to HBO! The actor, who famously played brothel owner and kingpin Al Swearengen in the short-lived but critically acclaimed HBO series “Deadwood,” is returning to the network.

He’s been cast on “Game of Thrones” season 6, which is now in production and will return on the air come spring 2016, Entertainment Weekly reports.

“Sources say McShane has a relatively small amount of screen-time during the season, yet his character is of key importance,” EW notes. The network would not reveal the identity of McShane’s character, but fans have already agreed that, whoever he ends up playing, he will fit in just perfectly.

If you’ve seen even one episode with his Al on “Deadwood,” you know he’s brilliant when it comes to bringing to life ruthless, cruel and scheming men, the kind that you see plenty of on “Game of Thrones.”

So far, McShane is the most recognizable face added to the cast of the series, which ended with a major cliffhanger in the supposed death of Jon Snow, after another murderous spree. As we’ve come to expect from GoT.

Speaking of the George R.R. Martin-based series, HBO has recently revealed that fans could expect at least 2 more seasons after the 6th one, which means they will have to wait until 2018 to see who gets to sit on the Iron Throne.
