Apple has released a new version of iTunes, the company’s proprietary digital media player application, used for playing and organizing digital music, video files and mobile applications, as well as for browsing the iTunes Store. iTunes 9.1.1 provides a number of important bug fixes, Apple says, including issues with the program’s audio-conversion feature.

Apple’s official description of the update, for the Mac version of iTunes, follows below.

About iTunes 9.1.1 iTunes 9.1.1 provides a number of important bug fixes, including:

- Addresses several stability issues with VoiceOver; - Addresses a usability issue with VoiceOver and Genius Mixes; - Addresses issues with converting songs to 128 kbps AAC while syncing; - Addresses other issues that improve stability and performance.

Pretty much the same problems are targeted on Windows. Excepting the VoiceOver bugs, iTunes 9.1.1 for Windows Vista and Windows 7 addresses a conflict with some third-party software that may cause the application to quit unexpectedly.

The Cupertino, California-based Mac maker continues its description of the update by mentioning several key additions from iTunes 9.1, a major update released last month. Arrived just before the iPad went on sale in the U.S., iTunes 9.1 added a number of new features, including the ability to sync and organize books, and the ability to rename, rearrange or remove Genius Mixes. The ability to automatically convert songs to 128 Kbps AAC format when syncing with a specific device was also included in iTunes 9.1 last month.
