Those of you that are interested in purchasing an eBook reader have probably come across the Cover Story during your Internet searches, iRiver just making this a lot more attractive since its 6-inch touchscreen creation is now available with WiFi connectivity.

Although I was expecting this to happen sooner, this is some great news either way, the new wireless enabled model being designated the EB05W code-name, that extra W differentiating it from the EB05 offline version of the Cover Story.

This latest feature will add to what already is a pretty complete list of specs, iRiver's creation coming with a 6-inch 600x800 resolution electronic paper display that also allows its users to take handwritten side notes directly onto the screen.

These notes will be saved into the included 2GB of storage memory or on the SD memory card (the Cover Story accepting cards up to 32GB in size), this eReader being compatible with a wide range of documents and eBook formats, including EPUB, PDF, TXT, FB2 and DJVU as well as MP3, WMA, OGG music files (it's an iRiver after all).

Unfortunately, iRiver has not disclosed any info about how will battery life be affected by the inclusion of WiFi connectivity, the regular EB05 version being rated at an estimated 11,000 page turns.

Apart from the new WiFi capabilities, UK residents also gain access to a wide selection of Waterstones eBook tiles, iRiver's eReader being available for pre-order right now from this same store.

For now, pricing is set at £149.99, making this only £20.00 more expensive than the regular EB05 model, although iRiver's Cover Story still remains more expensive than the Kindle, Amazon's reader being priced at £109.00 in the UK (WiFi only version), so one should be especially keen on getting a touchscreen in order choose the Cover Story.
