The player is being under development

The W10 portable media player from iRiver was first rumored in July of 2006, and that was before any fancy DAP hit the market. Apparently, the company is finally ready to send its baby into the wild, even if the item is going to swim into Korean waters first.

You probably wonder what's the deal with it? Well, for starters, the device features a 3 inch LCD screen with a 480 x 272 TFT touchscreen interface. But the most interesting feature of the device is the integrated WiFi with Skyhook's GPS-like positioning and NAVTEQ maps. No to mention the fellows even added a cool VoIP, a popular FM tuner, as well as an AOL XM streaming, which is going to allow the users to listen to Howard Stern's show from Tenerife.

As for its embedded storage capacity size, the player was given various sizes, according to the user's need. Therefore, you can choose from 2, 4 or 8GB storage capacity. But, of course, there is also the possibility to expand it, using the built-in miniSD card slot.

Regarding the player's capabilities, it can deal with most of the file formats available on the market, such as MP3, WMA, as well as OGG for the audio content. But it is also compatible with the MPEG -4, WMV9 video and more. As an operating system, the player works great on WinCE 5.0 OS. Too bad these NAVTEQ maps and POIs are only available and suited for the US. Who knows, maybe they are also going to be available for the rest of us by the winter holidays, or not?

All in all, I bet these specification details have made you reconsider your letter to Santa. And if you're wondering about the device's pricing and availability, I am afraid there is no official info on that, at least for the time being. Therefore, we'll get back on that soon!
