Jonathan Ive, the illustrious Apple vice-president of industrial design, has been honored with a CBE (Commander of the Order of the British Empire) in the Queen's New Year Honours list.

Ive is most famous for having designed the iPod, but the iMac is also on Jonathan's CV. Apparently; this is reason enough to have a prestigious medal pinned to the designer's chest. Come to think of it, designing the world's most appreciated MP3 player is quite a thing, considering the revolution it caused.

The iPod isn't the only project Ive worked on for Apple, his list of great products also includes the Power Mac G4, Cube and PowerBook.

The Queen was revealed as being an iPod owner in June last year, and despite her age - 79 years old, she has a ?169 silver iPod.

The motto of the Order of the British Empire is "For God and the Empire" and was instituted by George V in 1917 to recognize all levels of service to the country during the First World War.
