If there’s one thing that sets iPhone users apart from the rest, it must certainly be brand loyalty. Unlike Android users who might have a bigger tendency of switching from brand to brand, Apple fans tend to stick to Cupertino and upgrade models when they feel it’s time for a change.
But now that Samsung’s best looking phone to date is out, the question arises: Is there something that could make iPhone users switch to the Galaxy S6?
According to a recent survey conducted by ecoATM (as seen at Phone Arena) that included 1,050 smartphone owners age 18 or older, pricing is a major factor.
If only the Samsung Galaxy S6 were cheaper
When asked what new feature of the Galaxy S6 might prompt them to make a change, a lot of iPhone owners (16%) said that nothing could persuade them, while 18% claimed that a lower price range might make them consider the scenario.
But that’s not likely to be case. A recent leak suggested that the Galaxy S6’s pricing would start at $699 / €659 all the way up to $899 / €848.
In contrast, the iPhone 6 starts at $649 / €612 and goes up to $849 / €800.
24% of the respondents actually stated they would be willing to switch to Samsung’s latest Galaxy S6 if they received it for free (as a gift or something similar).
Outside pricing limitations, 21% of Apple fans said they would take up a Galaxy S6 instead if the battery inside proved to be larger. 18% would do the same if the handset had a larger display. An odd 3% said they would make the change if they saw a celebrity use the phone.
Conditions in which iPhone users would consider making a change
So, why are iPhone fans so reluctant to pick up a different handset? Well, 38% of the respondents will cling on to their device until the contract expires, while another 23% say they will abandon their phone if the device gets broken.
16% of the people involved in the survey say they will purchase a new phone 6 months after launch, while 13% will do so after just one month.
Only 6% will hurry to pick up a phone on its very launch day.
