The publishing label of Take-Two Interactive known as Rockstar Games has announced that Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars is coming to iPhone and iPod touch this autumn. Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars is currently available only for the Nintendo DS, and is also set to make an appearance on Sony’s PlayStationPortable (PSP) this fall.

"Chinatown Wars is a perfect match for the iPhone and iPod touch," Sam Houser, founder of Rockstar Games, said. "We are very excited to bring this incredibly ambitious version of Liberty City, with this level of detail and immersive gameplay on Apple's new gaming platforms."

GTA: Chinatown Wars follows the story of Huang Lee, a young Triad who travels to Liberty City following the death of his father. Shrouded in mystery, the streets are the playground where gamers are tasked with uncovering the truth behind an epic tale of crime and corruption within the Triad crime syndicate.

Currently, no price point has been set for the upcoming iPhone title, while an exact release date remains to be confirmed as well. GTA is one of the most popular game series in the world, with tens of millions of copies sold worldwide on both PC and consoles. However, Rockstar is likely to announce a release date for GTA: Chinatown Wars soon – iPhone development generally goes fast. Also, fans should expect to pay around $10 for the game, given that the DS version sells for $34.99 at retail stores.

Rockstar Games has also announced Beaterator for iPhone and iPod touch recently. Previously announced for the PlayStationPortable, Beaterator features thousands of loops and sounds made by Timbaland and Rockstar.

The company publishes and develops products through its wholly owned labels Rockstar Games and 2K. The latter, for its part, publishes titles under 2K Games, 2K Sports and 2K Play labels. Take-Two also distributes software, hardware and accessories in North America through its Jack of All Games subsidiary.
