One of the handful of game publishers chosen by Apple

With the iPhone's launch around the corner, most of you must have thought if Apple's "revolutionary" handset is going to feature any games, what will they be and who will be the developer (developers) chosen by Apple to work on such a task.

I don't know yet what the default iPhone games will be, but I can tell you for sure that games will be available on it and that Namco is going to be one of the handful of game publishers to take a slice of the iPhone game pie.

As Scott Rubin, vice president of Namco Networks/Games, has declared during an interview taken by Gaming Bits on the recent release of "Ms. PAC MAN" on Apple's iPod, Namco is definitely going to be one of the gaming companies to develop games for the iPhone.

"We are without a question one of the handful of game publishers that Apple has chosen to work with and we're also a top partner of Cingular, who will be selling the device. At this time, there hasn't been too much information in terms of games.", said Rubin. "Our whole thing is mobile entertainment on wireless devices. We're one of the few publishers that directly publishes games on almost every wireless platform. Not just Java phones, but iPods, Sidekicks, Palm, Windows Mobile. If the opportunity is there, we will put our games on the iPhone. It's our mission."

That statement is the thing we have waited for so long, to be certain we will also get to play games on the iPhone, not only talk with people, listen to music and watch videos.

If one considers the pretty spicy price tag the iPhone features, s/he'll see this is a logic move to be made by Apple. At least they try to prove their work not only in raising their profits but also in adding value to the products they launch on the market.
