Apple is currently prepping new iPhone models to put on the market later in 2015, but the rumor mill can’t agree on whether the Cupertino tech giant will end up calling the new devices iPhone 6s or iPhone 7.

We've seen plenty of rumors indicating that either possibility might be true, and today we’re seeing another report supporting the iPhone 6s scenario.

KGI Securities, home of renowned Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, who has provided us with countless accurate tidbits of info about Cupertino’s upcoming products, has just released new details about the company’s upcoming phones (as seen at G for Games).

Only two new iPhone models are coming in 2015

According to the report, this year Apple will launch two handset models, the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus, and both will take advantage of the Force Touch technology on the display (Apple uses it in its Watch and new Retina MacBook).

KGI also notes that Apple will not release any plasticky 4-inch version of the iPhone 6s this year, dismissing rumors of a next-gen iPhone 5c.

The information specifies that the iPhone 6s will come with a 4.7-inch display, while the iPhone 6s Plus will have a 5.5-inch screen. Both handsets will be powered by Apple’s next-gen A9 chipset (said to be manufactured by Samsung) and will bundle 2GB of LPDDR4 RAM, along with a 12MP camera.

Is Sapphire glass finally coming to the iPhone?

To prevent another #bendgate scandal, Apple will be making use of Series 7000 aluminum, which is said to be 60% stronger than the current metal standard. Sapphire glass is once again said to be included in the display of the new iPhone models.

However, KGI predicts that only a special limited edition of the iPhone 6s Plus will use this material. Apple will also offer a rose gold color similar to the one used in the $17,000 / €15,101 Apple Watch Edition wearable.

Furthermore, we’re told that in order to sustain the Apple Pay service, Cupertino had to improve the TouchID on the phones.

The agency notes that the tech giant will start production of the two models in late August, with 80 million to 90 million units expected to be sold in 2015. Although the smaller unit is expected to outsell the larger one by a 2 to 1 margin.
