Apple will most likely not choose the ‘4S’ dubbing for its next iPhone, even if the company does plan a minor refresh only, but the people leaking these images appear confident that this may be Apple’s next-generation handset indeed.

The unconfirmed device not only has a bigger screen, apparently 3.7 inches on the diagonal, but also a new proximity sensor.

Needless to point out, the MIC Gadget report does 'too' well to corroborate every major iPhone 5 rumor, including the fact that Apple’s next smartphone will have an edge-to-edge screen to make room for more pixels, compromising on the useless bezel.

All the elements are there, including an iOS 4.something or iOS 5 that stretches the home screen and icons to make everything fit well and symmetrical.

Developers are likely not required to do any aesthetic modifications to their applications, as the 3.7-inch screen likely retains the aspect ratio displayed on the existing 3.5-inch screens of the iPhone and iPod touch.

Again, all this stands if we’re looking at a real iPhone device.

A comparison shot between the purported iPhone 4S and the current-generation iPhone 4 is also offered.

The fact that they’re both dressed in white seems like an attempt to add credibility that said device is real, with the White iPhone 4 still regarded as an intangible good.

If we were to weigh in on the imagery with a take of our own, we’d have to conclude it’s most likely fake - an attempt to rack up page views amid growing rumors of what the next iPhone will be like.

A far more credible report, likely the one MIC Gadget is building its case upon, said last week that select developers were being granted access to a certain ‘iPhone 4S’ to test their apps against the new A5 chip.

The device was said to be physically identical to the current iPhone 4, differing only internally by the addition of the more powerful SoC handling everything from graphics to task processing.
