Rumors continue to circulate as Apple event approaches

Alleged photos of a partially assembled iPhone 4S are doing the rounds with one image showing the device asking to be connected to iTunes, as if it were on its death bed.

Unlike the Alien III scene where synthetic humanoid Bishop tells Ripley to put him out of his misery by cutting the power to his innards, this alleged iPhone 4S device is clinging to dear life by asking to be connected to iTunes, with its guts spread all over the place.

Ok, the situation isn’t that dramatic. But we have to try and envision something, if we're going to keep our sanity over these iPhone 4S rumors.

These images are coming from Pandaxtech via MacPost with claims that we’re indeed looking at an iPhone 4S, not a current-generation iPhone 4.

This should hold some water, if we’re to believe that this is an actual prototype, rather than a current-generation handset whose inner workings have been replaced with different ones.

An image leaked yesterday showed pretty much the same thing, sans iTunes activation request. Yesterday’s leak also showed slightly different markings on the A5 chip.

Today’s leak, however, seems to bring new details about the battery Apple is set to use in future iPhones. It appears that it’s still a 3.7 volter with 5.3 Whr, but it delivers 1430 mAh of charge.

The iPhone 4 currently being sold through Apple stores and supported carriers features a slightly lower-capacity 1420 mAh battery.

However, it is worth pointing out that iPhone repair shop iFixyouri has had a look at the images and determined that this phone was likely not assembled by Apple’s order.

According to 9to5mac, what gives it away is the grill on the white iPhone front plate. iFixyouri says this is not an OEM version.

As avid Softpedia readers already know, Apple this fall is expected to launch a fifth-generation iPhone as well. Details about this major refresh have been scarce, though.
