Cloupia, a cloud automation and management software provider, has announced plans to showcase the CloudGenie, the first iPad application for data center orchestration ever build.

Featured at booth #401 at VMworld 2011, Las Vegas, CloudGenie is a tablet-based data center orchestration application designed to manage and provision infrastructure, both physically and virtually.

The software will soon be available in the App Store.

Currently deployed on the iPad with plans to have it run on other platforms in the future, the solution is said to be able to demonstrate ease of management for workloads running on cloud infrastructure.

One of the demonstrations will be single-click infrastructure provisioning of converged infrastructure.

The demo will allow attendees to witness bare-metal compute provisioning, allocating and mapping share storage (LUNs and volumes), and advanced network provisioning.

The end goal is to support both physical and virtual workloads.

CloudGenie also does management and real-time monitoring across all infrastructure components.

As Cloupia puts it, users will be able to handle segments like compute, storage, network & virtualization “from a single pane of glass.”

Finally, the company will showcase the app’s integrated cloud automation capabilities.

These include end-user self-service portal, design and deploy component-level service catalog, and chargeback management.

The purpose of using this feature is to avoid employing additional tools to transform converged infrastructure to clouds, Cloupia said.

Commenting on their release, Bhaskar Krishnamsetty, VP of Products and Marketing at Cloupia, said "Cloupia's automated component discovery, monitoring, configuration, deployment, reporting, and capacity management capabilities empower IT organizations with the true self-service and automated nature of cloud implementations.”

“It truly eliminates the overhead and expense of manual provisioning, monitoring and management of cloud infrastructure. We are excited and look forward to demonstrating CloudGenie at VMworld," added Krishnamsetty.
