If you think your iPhone or iPad serves you well in both your personal life and your profession, wait till iOS 5 comes out with new versions of Mail and Calendar.

There’s a good chance these two enhancements alone will make the iPad a must-have for business.

Mail

The updated Mail application in iOS 5 is laying the ground for some crazy corporate adoption with the ability to format text (bold, italic, underlined fonts), the option to create indents in the test of your message, the ability to drag and rearrange names in address fields, flag important messages, or even add and delete entire mailbox folders on the fly.

“Your inbox is about to receive some great new features,” Apple promised in June, as WWDC 2011 had kicked off.

There’s more. Users will be able to look for a specific email by searching in the body of messages. Review image Finally, since Mail is one of those nifty Apple services that integrates with iCloud, you’ll get a free email account that stays up to date on all your devices.

Calendar

“Get more perspective on your schedule with year view on iPad and week view on iPhone and iPod touch,” Apple said in June.

With the new Calendar application in iOS 5, users will be able to tap to create an event and drag to adjust the time and duration.

Adding, renaming, and deleting calendars will be possible directly from the device, and users will have the ability to view attachments without leaving the Calendar app. Review image Integration with iCloud will let you share calendars with friends and family. Since it’s a cloud service, your events are always kept in sync across your iDevice(s) and personal computer(s).
