Apple has started notifying people enrolled with its Developer Program that several new downloads are now available from the iPhone Dev Center on the company’s website. The most important of all, the iOS 4 GM (Golden Master) seed, is a pre-release version of Apple’s next-gen operating system, which is to be installed and used with the purpose of developing applications for iOS 4.

“iOS 4 is the next generation of the world's most innovative mobile operating system. Its unique capabilities and new technologies will change what's possible on a mobile platform,” Apple states on the Developer section of its website.

“With a rich set of over 1500 new APIs, iPhone SDK for iOS 4 provides you with an amazing range of technologies to enhance the functionality of your iPhone and iPod touch apps. iPhone Developer Program members can visit the iPhone Dev Center to download the iPhone SDK 4 GM seed now,” the iPhone maker reveals on the same web page.

Additional downloads available from Apple’s Dev Center include the iPhone SDK 4 GM seed, a pre-release version of the software development kit for code-savvy individuals, iTunes 9.2 beta, which reportedly brings folder organization, books, PDF sync and other cool features, and the iAd JS, which combines with the power of iOS 4 and its WevKit-based browser to make it easy for devs “to create high-impact, motion-rich ads,” Apple says, according to a leaked screenshot.

As indicated by the Cupertino-based iPhone maker, the iPhone SDK 4GM seed requires Mac OS X 10.6.2 or later. Snow Leopard is currently at Mac OS X 10.6.3, and is on track to receive its fourth incremental update any day now, going by the latest rumors.

Also noteworthy for developers (according to the same screenshot mentioned in the above paragraph) is that iOS 4-compatible apps can be submitted as soon as June 10, via iTunes Connect. Undoubtedly, Apple will again choose a handful of the best apps to create the very first iPhone 4 ads, showing off the handset’s unique capabilities. Members of the iPhone Developer Program can get started with their downloads by visiting Apple here.
