A video demonstration featuring a jailbroken iPad running iOS 4.3 ‘untethered’ has been uploaded to the web for everyone to see what is in store for the iOS fanbase.

Uploaded to YouTube yesterday, the video “shows [an] alpha untethered jailbroken iPad on iOS 4.3.”

According to its author (xpl0n1c), “alpha because not all required kernel patches are in it, yet.”

iOS 4.3 is available for iPad 1, iPad 2, iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPod touch 3rd generation, and iPod touch 4th generation.

All these devices (including the second-generation Apple TV) should be supported by an upcoming release of PwnageTool from the iPhone Dev Team, who were able to demonstrate the capability using a recent beta build of iOS 4.3.

The manual method for jailbreaking the iOS 4.3 GM involved downloading a custom PwnageTool bundle, feeding it to the Dev Team’s application, creating a custom IPSW file, making a ramdisk, and inserting the ramdisk into the custom IPSW.

The video demonstration shows an iOS 4.3 jailbroken iPad booting without being tethered to a computer, with the user swiping his fingers on the screen to provide evidence of the hack.

A working Cydia application can be spotted, while the settings menu clearly shows version 4.3 of the iPad’s firmware.

The hack comes a mere day after the iOS 4.3 software update was released to the public.

This article has a purely informational purpose and doesn't, in any way, suggest that you should hack your Apple device.

Using hacks may render your device unusable, or may reduce the quality of your experience employing the respective device.

If you choose to download and install jailbreak tools, you will do so at your own risk. Unlocking / jailbreaking your iPhone / iPod touch / iPad / Apple TV may violate your warranty or the EULA with Apple and / or your cellular-service provider.
