A Mac-centric web site claims to have learned that the iPhone Dev Team’s iOS 4.1 jailbreak will come in tandem with a Cydia tweak that will ultimately enable high-dynamic-range (HDR) photos for unsupported devices, including the iPhone 3G and iPhone 3GS.

Cult of Mac points out to a Twitter update from @cdevwill, who wrote “Made a Cydia tweak to allow HDR photos on 4.1 for the iPhone 3G and 3G[s].”

According to the site, “a Cydia tweak is on its way just as soon as the Dev Team releases their iOS 4.1 jailbreak, bringing HDR capability to legacy devices.”

The source acknowledges that the iOS 4.1 jailbreak is still not released, while the Dev Team did not provide an ETA, as usual.

What the iPhone Dev Team did provide was a warning which said that jailbreakers should steer clear of iOS 4.1 until they release their hack tools.

“Today you’ll likely start seeing iTunes innocently offer you a new version of iOS…version 4.1.  Don’t accept it…it’s a trap!”, the hackers warned last week.

“There’s currently no known way to revert your baseband — if you update your baseband you’ll lose the ultrasn0w unlock, possible forever,” the Team added.

The notorious team of hackers concluded by saying, “Please stay away from this 4.1 release until a safe jailbreak procedure (which also preserves ultrasn0w) is developed and released.”

Softpedia doesn't encourage jailbreaking / unlocking the iPhone / iPod touch / iPad, or any other device.

This article has a purely informational purpose and doesn't, in any way, suggest that you should hack your Apple device.

Using hacks may render your device unusable, or may reduce the quality of your experience employing the respective device.

If you choose to download and install jailbreak tools, you will do so at your own risk. Unlocking / jailbreaking your iPhone / iPod touch / iPad may violate your warranty or the EULA with Apple and / or your cellular-service provider.
