Apple has released the iMac ATI Radeon HD Graphics Firmware Update 1.0.1 for iMacs, using either an ATI Radeon HD 2600 Pro or an ATI Radeon HD 2400 XT graphics card. The update goes for newly confirmed iMacs too. You can click HERE to get your graphics firmware right now or use the Software Update feature from the Apple menu. The update weighs in at 848KB.

Apple's website says that the iMac ATI Radeon HD Graphics Firmware Update 1.0.1 "is for iMac computers with an ATI Radeon HD 2600 Pro or ATI Radeon HD 2400 XT graphics card installed, running Mac OS X 10.5.2 or later." The Cupertino-based computer manufacturer also notes that this firmware update improves system stability by updating the ATI Radeon HD 2600 Pro or ATI Radeon HD 2400 XT graphics card firmware in the iMac.

"To complete the firmware update process, please follow the instructions in the updater application (/Applications/Utilities/iMac ATI Radeon HD Graphics Firmware Update.app). The updater will launch automatically when the Installer closes," Apple mentions, adding that after the update is successfully completed, your ROM version will be 113-B2250L-259.

If you are unsure whether your computer needs a particular update, simply download and open the update installer. The installer will alert you if the firmware update is already installed or not needed. An example is available and pictured left (click to enlarge).

In other iMac news, Apple has updated its all-in-one iMac line with the latest Intel Core 2 Duo processors and some of the most powerful graphics solutions available. Prices start at $1,199 while new iMacs include faster processors with 6MB L2 cache and a faster 1066 MHz front-side bus across the entire line, and 2GB of memory standard in most models. The 24-inch iMac now offers a 3.06 GHz Intel processor and the high-performance NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GS graphics as options.
