Remember Panasonic’s rugged new tablet, the Toughpad FZ-G1, which got unveiled at CES 2014? Back then, the manufacturer didn't offer a keyboard to go along with it, but one month later this issue has been remedied.

Accessory manufacturer iKey has launched a rugged keyboard accessory for the Panasonic tablet, complete with features that will help it survive in the toughest of environments. The keyboard goes by the name FZ-G1 Jumpseat.

This little extra will not only provide professionals working in risky environments with the means to facilitate data-entry but also protect the screen of the tablet.

The Jumpseat is actually a rubber keypad fully sealed in a strong magnesium case, which is resistant to dust, dirt and liquid drips. The keyboard also has a trackpad capable of recognizing gestures.

Users can charge their keyboard via the tablet’s USB port, via a lithium ion battery which should amount for a steady two months of life.

The Jumpseat should become available directly from Panasonic somewhere in February, for an unknown price-tag.
