If you have ever wondered what lies beneath the hood of the brand new Amazon Kindle Fire HDX 7, the folks over at iFixit have taken upon themselves to satisfy your curiosity.

To do that, they have taken down the 7-inch slate, and as it turns out, the device wasn’t really meant to be taken apart, not by regular users anyway. However, the iFixit people wanted to see how easily the Kindle Fire HDX could be disassembled.

As opposed to your average tech user, iFixit had the right tools to help them complete the mission. Yet, the Amazon slate scored just a low 3 points out of 10 when repairability was concerned. In the process, they discovered that its display was manufactured by LG, which slipped in model LD070WU2-SM01. The touchscreen technology is a Synaptics S37301B.

The Amazon Kindle Fire HDX was launched at the end of September and brings a whole set of attractive specifications and some innovations like the Mayday button, something users can use anytime they have an issue they can’t fix with the tablet.
