14 DAY TRIAL // You might remember iBall, the device manufacturer that launched the Edu Slide 3G Q1035, a tablet pre-loaded with educational content aimed at students and their parents, available for a chunky price-tag of Rs 36,999 / $598 / €434 in India.
Now the mobile PC maker has decided to roll out the same tablet, but stripped off the educational content. The iBall Slide 3G Q1045 has already been spotted being available in the country from on-line retailers like Snapdeal and Flipkart.
Interestingly enough, it seems that the pre-installed educational content was the reason why the Edu version costs where so high, with the current model shipping almost half, Rs 17,499 / $283 / €205 (which is really affordable for a 10-inch slate).
The iBall Slide features a large 10.1-inch multi-touch IPS display with a resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels (the company could have done better in this department). Power comes from a 1.2GHz quad-core Cortex A7 processor coupled with 1GB of RAM.
Most slates coming out of India and China have calling capabilities these days, but they usually are smaller-framed devices (7-inch or 8-inch).
Well, iBall doesn't take size into account and has bundled the slate with dual-SIM (complete with dual standby), so you’ll be able to place phone calls too.
The voice calling function offers the possibility of using earphone or speaker phone modes. Photography lovers will find two cameras with this product (a nice 8MP rear camera with LED flash and a 2MP frontal snapper).
Moreover, there’s just 8GB of storage onboard, but customers can extend it up to 32GB via the microSD card.
Furthermore, the slate bundles Wi-Fi b/g/n, Bluetooth, HDMI out, USB OTG, 3G HSPA+ and a substantial 6000mAh battery which should last you enough to get through a busy day. Unlike the Edu Slide 3G Q1035, there’s no Wi-Fi only tablet version here, so you have only the 3G+Wi-Fi option.
