Just the other day, a young woman living in the state of Kerala in India hanged herself after her husband confiscated her phone and refused to give it back.

Reports say the woman and her hubbie, who were newlyweds, got into a fight over how much time she was spending on Facebook and WhatsApp.

The husband thought the wife was ignoring him and paying a wee too much attention to her phone, she disagreed and so a serious fight broke out.

The man actually confiscated her phone

When he realized that he could not get through to her and that he would have to share his wife's attentions with her phone, the husband got terribly mad. Rather than attempt a more tranquil conversation, he simply confiscated her phone.

The woman pleaded that he would return it but, when he wouldn't, ran and locked herself in the couple's bedroom. Her husband assumed she simply needed some space to adjust to the change and let her be. Unfortunately, the woman had a whole other plan on her mind.

Desperate, frustrated and with nobody by her side to talk some sense into her, the 20-year-old woman, identified only as Aparna, hanged herself in protest of having her phone taken away from her. As mentioned, the couple had only recently been married.

Her body was discovered by the husband

When enough time had passed, the husband went looking for his wife, hoping to find her all calm and ready to compromise. Instead, what he discovered was her lifeless body in their bedroom.

DM tells us the man was so shaken up by his wife's suicide he even attempted to end his own life. Luckily, he had relatives there by his side to comfort him.

Although it's pretty clear the woman's death was suicide, local law enforcement officers in Kerala are looking into the incident to make absolutely sure there was no foul play.
