Refreshed model presented at the MWC conference

An improved version of the MateBook X Pro was announced by Huawei at the MWC show in Barcelona, but as opposed to what some industry watchers have predicted lately, the upgrades are modest, to say the least.

And yet, these do not make the MateBook X Pro any worse, so the chances are that despite the minor improvements, Huawei’s flagship device would remain a very appealing product for both consumers and companies looking for top performance.

First and foremost, the MateBook X Pro has been upgraded from the Kaby Lake R processors used on the previous generation to the Whiskey Lake, so in terms of CPU, the changes are likely to be difficult to notice, especially on day-to-day use.

A minor upgrade has been made in the graphics department too, as Huawei replaced the Nvidia GeForce MX150 with the slightly upgraded MX250 with 2G DDR5.

Pricey laptops

The new MateBook X Pro comes with the same 13.9-inch display with a resolution of 3000x2000 pixels and touch support, but on the other hand, the biggest change is the improved screen-to-body ratio, which has reached 91 percent on this model. The device is just 14.6mm thin and tips the scales at just 1.33 kg, despite using a metallic body.

Huawei heavily praises the sharing capabilities of the new laptops, as they include the OneHop File Sharing system, which makes it possible to transfer photos, videos, and documents between PCs and phones all wirelessly. Screen recording and clipboard sharing are also offered for seamless transition and sync between devices.

The MateBook X Pro will go on sale in Europe first, and it will cost 1,599 Euros when equipped with an Intel Core i5 processor paired with 8GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. If you want the top version, the Core i7 configuration will be available for 1,999 Euros with 16GB of RAM and 1TB of storage.
