14 DAY TRIAL // Huawei has finally taken the wraps off its flagship phablet, the Mate 9. As expected, the smartphone integrates the pinnacle of all technologies that Huawei could harbor in the last year or so.
The Mate 9 is one of the most powerful devices thanks to the new technologies that Huawei has managed to develop, but also due to the high-end hardware it packs.
For example, the Kirin 960 chipset that's been recently introduced by Huawei is now the engine that drives the Mate 9 to the most amazing speeds in just about any task or action the user wishes to accomplish.
The HiSilicon Kirin 960 SoC is complemented by a Mali-G71 MP8 graphics processing unit, as well as a second i6 processor for motion and image sensor calculation operations. As expected, Huawei Mate 9 packs 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal memory.
The Mate 9 boasts a large 5.9-inch display that supports full HD (1080p) resolution. A secondary model called Porsche Design Huawei Mate 9 comes with a smaller 5.5-inch display that offers a larger Quad HD (2560 x 1440 pixels) resolution.
Once again, Huawei has decided to include Leica-powered cameras into one of its flagship smartphones. The Mate 9 comes with a combination of 12-megapixel and 20-megapixel rear-facing cameras. The latter is a monochrome camera. The dual-camera setup features OIS (optical image stabilization), hybrid zoom, anti-shake capability, and 4K video recording.
All this power-hungry hardware needs a solid battery, and Huawei provided. The Mate 9 comes with a large 4,000 mAh battery and SuperCharge technology, which should charge it up to 58% in just 30 minutes.
Software-wise, Huawei Mate 9 will ship with Android 7.0 Nougat with EMUI on top. The smartphone will be available in multiple colors, including Space Gray, Moonlight Silver, Champagne Gold, Mocha Brown, and Ceramic White.
Huawei has just confirmed that the Mate 9 will be available for purchase for €699, whereas the Porsche Design model will cost €1,395 outright.
