Huawei working on gaming console and gaming laptop

When it comes to gaming consoles, the world is pretty much divided into two parts, namely Sony’s PlayStation and Microsoft’s Xbox, though the sales of other devices, such as Nintendo’s, have been increasing too.

Huawei, the Chinese tech behemoth that has been dealing with so many sanctions in the last couple of years and is no longer allowed to install the licensed version of Android and Google apps on its devices, is now getting ready to step into the gaming world with something truly big.

It’s a new device lineup specifically aimed at gaming, with Chinese reports indicating that the company has very ambitious plans in this regard.

The first step to become a more prominent gaming company is providing the world with a gaming laptop, though it’ll certainly be interesting to see what operating system Huawei wants to use since Windows is also a product coming from an American firm, therefore it’s not allowed to use it.

Most likely, Huawei would go for Linux, as the gaming side of the open-source Windows alternative has been improved substantially lately. But without a doubt, it’d still lack the large Windows gaming ecosystem, which is growing at such a fast pace these days.

The second even more ambitious project for Huawei in the long term is the launch of a gaming console, which would theoretically allow the company to compete directly with Sony’s PlayStation and Microsoft’s Xbox.

It’s pretty clear Huawei hopes its laptop and the gaming console would allow for the creation of a gaming ecosystem similar to Microsoft’s, though on other hand, this is something that just can’t happen overnight and which could also be impacted by the sanctions the Chinese firm still has to deal with.

For now, however, Huawei has remained completely tight-lipped on everything, so it remains to be seen if such plans are coming to fruition or not. But at first glance, Huawei is ready to bet big on other industry areas given the smartphone business has been seriously hit by the United States ban.
