Huawei will be announced during MWC 2017 in February

Huawei didn’t actually announce any new flagships during CES 2017, as the company only made the Mate 9 with Alexa support available in the US. It seems that Huawei has been saving its best devices for the year’s biggest tech show, the Mobile World Congress in February.

Huawei is expected to announce the new Huawei P10 and P10 Plus during the event, but the two smartphones should be released in March-April, company officials recently stated. Some specs of the upcoming smartphones are already known and a recent leak has surfaced to fill in the blanks.

Huawei P10 Plus specs and renders have leaked at Anzhuo, revealing that the smartphone will feature a 5.5-inch QHD AMOLED display and 6GB of RAM. The handset could also have 256GB of internal storage and run Kirin 960 64-bit octa-core SoC, clocked at 2.3GHz and coupled with Mali G71 graphics processing unit.

Dual-camera setup on the back and IP68 certification

It’s unclear at this point if the smartphone will incorporate Leica sensors in its dual-camera setup on the back, but this is highly likely. Moreover, the phone might ship with some sort of AI technology, considering that the US variant of the Mate 9 included Amazon Alexa support.

No information was disclosed about the battery capacity, but the smartphone is said to support wireless charging and feature IP68 protection against water and dust.

Leaked renders show the phone’s metal frame with the power/lock and volume buttons placed on the right side. The LED flash appears to be located next to the dual-camera setup on the back, while the fingerprint scanner found its place on the rear panel, despite there being a physical home button in the front. The images also show the dual-edge curved display on the upcoming phone, similar to the Galaxy S7 edge.

Take the latest leak with a grain of salt. Although the report mentioned the specs were for the P10, considering the curved display and high RAM capacity, we do believe that they could actually be for the P10 Plus.
